How we collect, use, and protect your data.

MeteoIntel ("we", "our", "us") operates the website meteointel.com and related APIs. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data. We process data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable laws.

1. Data controller

The data controller is MeteoIntel, Str Dr. Petre Herescu, Nr.12, Sector 5, Bucharest, Romania. For privacy-related requests, contact us at [email protected].

2. What data we collect

We collect only what is necessary to run our services:

  • Contact form. When you use the contact form, we collect first name, last name, company, work email, and message. We use this to respond to your enquiry and do not use it for marketing unless you have agreed.
  • Website analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our website (e.g. pages viewed, approximate location, device type). Google Analytics may set cookies and process data as described in our Cookies Policy. We do not use this data to identify you personally.
  • API usage. If you use our APIs, we process technical data (e.g. API key, request volume, timestamps) to provide the service, ensure security, and meet our contractual and legal obligations. We do not collect or store the actual weather data you request beyond what is needed for billing or abuse prevention.

We do not collect sensitive categories of data (e.g. health, race, religion) through our website or APIs. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

3. How we use your data

We use your data to:

  • Respond to contact requests and provide support
  • Provide and operate our website and APIs
  • Improve our website and services (analytics)
  • Comply with legal obligations and protect our rights

4. Legal basis (GDPR)

We process personal data on the basis of: (a) your consent where we have asked for it (e.g. optional cookies, marketing); (b) performance of a contract (e.g. API services); (c) our legitimate interests (e.g. analytics, security, responding to enquiries); and (d) legal obligation where required.

5. Hosting and storage

Our website and APIs are hosted on infrastructure provided by OVH. Data may be stored in data centres within the European Union. We require our providers to protect your data in line with applicable law.

6. Retention

We keep contact form data for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any follow-up; we may retain a copy for a limited period for legal or compliance reasons. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics settings (we do not use extended retention beyond standard). API and billing-related data are retained as required by contract and law.

7. Your rights

Under GDPR and applicable law, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, data portability, and to object. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your country. To exercise your rights, contact us at [email protected].
